§ 4-5. Vaccination of dogs or cats; owner identification.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the town to own, keep, possess, harbor or allow to remain upon premises under such person's control any dog or cat which has not been vaccinated against rabies during the preceding 36-month period.

    (b)

    All dogs or cats kept within the municipality shall be required and it shall be the duty of any owner of such dog or cat to have a rabies vaccination tag issued for the succeeding 36-month period and an owner identification tag, both such tags to be firmly attached to a collar and such collar to be worn by such cat or dog at all times.

    (c)

    It is an affirmative defense to any prosecution under subsection (a) or (b) of this section that the dog or cat is under the age of four months.
